That grumpy bugger - Doc Martin - is back for a fifth series in 2011. The story picks up after the birth of Martin and Louisa's son. Will Martin return to his post as Portwenn's GP? Will fatherhood help the Doc to mellow? Will he and Louisa play happy families? Of course not! The road to happiness will no doubt be fraught with an array of delightfully entertaining challenges.

The Doc Martin Series 5 Blog follows the progress of Series 5 from filming to post-episode dissection, and everything in between. It will endeavour to keep you up-to-date with all that's happening in and around Portwenn.

Your contributions to the site are welcomed, encouraged and essential. If you have information, tips, photos, a story to tell or a question to ask, don't hesitate to shoot me off an email, or post a comment. The Doc is in!

MadMother's Port Isaac Diary...Part One...

Friday 8th April

Arrived at 3pm. Letting agent displayed warped sense of humour and sent us through the village. Mr MM delighted to discover that roads six inches wider than car were still two-way. Found cottage, dumped luggage and headed out in search of Doc Martin stars. Filming in progress at Bert's restaurant. Clear view from beach but photography hampered by brilliant sunshine directly overhead. Mr MM's big lens unable to cope. Took a couple with my camera but definitely over-exposed. Not a cloud in sight. I blame the politicians; all that hot air from Parliament is affecting the weather. Sent over-exposed picture to Sen - miraculous improvement - Joe Absolom and Ian McNeice just visible in the corner.

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th April

No filming at weekends. Spent weekend visiting local beauty spots, hoping to spot Doc Martin stars. Apparently, should have been at Tesco's in Wadebridge instead (Caroline Catz spotted there).
