THE STORY CONTINUES...

That grumpy bugger - Doc Martin - is back for a fifth series in 2011. The story picks up after the birth of Martin and Louisa's son. Will Martin return to his post as Portwenn's GP? Will fatherhood help the Doc to mellow? Will he and Louisa play happy families? Of course not! The road to happiness will no doubt be fraught with an array of delightfully entertaining challenges.

The Doc Martin Series 5 Blog follows the progress of Series 5 from filming to post-episode dissection, and everything in between. It will endeavour to keep you up-to-date with all that's happening in and around Portwenn.

Your contributions to the site are welcomed, encouraged and essential. If you have information, tips, photos, a story to tell or a question to ask, don't hesitate to shoot me off an email, or post a comment. The Doc is in!

  9. I love shows like Madman, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, etc. Edgy, hip shows.
But, I am a huge Doc Martin fan. Sure my 75 year old mom loves it too but that's ok.
Great stories with a great lead character always have a place.
The show is not widely viewed in Canada but with a proper ad campaign, Canadians would love it too.
Bring on Season 6 and beyond...

  12. Our public tv station is having a DM marathon to celebrate Thanksgiving. I guess that tells you how much we love the Doc, Louisa, James Henry and all those quirky characters. Yes, we
need series 6 with a now married couple and eventually a new arrival. All the quirkiness should continue, but there love should now be cemented. Oh yes, bring back Pauline. Paula from NYC now but back to Philadelphia soon

    ReplyDelete
  13. PLEASE bring us Series 6! Bring back P.C. Mark M. and Pauline, too! Al needs another love interest, if not Pauline...hmmm...how about Morwenna...or even Auntie Ruth? Doc certainly loves his Louisa. Maybe the series could jump ahead with James Henry being a brainiac wonderkid in primary school. Can you imagine Doc's reaction if the school didn't cater to his high level of intelligence? Can you imagine how he'd react if James Henry was teased? Long Island, New York awaits!

  14. My whole family loves Doc Martin. It's the best show on TV. I actually look forward to watching it every week and it's one of the few shows that we can watch as a family. Everyone from my teenage children to my 65 year old father watch and everyone enjoys it. That's a very rare quality in TV shows these days. I can't wait for Season 6!

  15. I received Series 1-4 on dvd as a gift and I'm hooked! Love the scenery, dogs and of course, characters! It's amazing how Martin Clunes seems so much different from the Doc Martin character in real life. So much potential for a Series 6 - as long as the right balance of humor and drama are injected in the writing. I was disappointed that they didn't tie the knot yet, and that Aunt Joan is gone (his only close family), but still very interested in the rude Doc's future! Don't be a Tosser and bring on Series 6!! Another New York fan here...

  16. I started watching Doc Martin in 2010, and I love the show! I hope there will be seasons 6, 7, 8... Can't wait for season 5 to come to the USA. New Jersey loves the Doc!

  18. Have watched, and re-watched in episode order, Series 1 - 4, cannot wait for Series 5 to come to the USA! After that I will be keen to see Series 6 plus!! The best TV drama/comedy out there, ever! Thanks to the writers, producers, directors, actors and all who work on this project - it is truly awesome!!

  19. I love the Doc and Louisa; It would be great to see them take on London as a family! It is difficult to find such quality in a series on TV. Summers in their little village could find pleny of odd characters. I think Asperger's is not well understood; I know a few of these special people; not all negative. usually interesting. They still need love and caring.

  20. PLEASE MAKE A SERIE NR. 6..... Please here from Denmark..... Martin Clunes has many many fans in this little country...

  21. A friend who is a fan of Doc Martin turned my husband and me into avid fans of the show. We can hardly wait for season 6 to start.

  22. I know for sure we have to have a Series 6. My words could never express how wonderful this show is. ALL the characters are hand picked. I have watched all episodes and I believe all the fans out there would like to see Doc and Louisa married. We need to see James Henry baptised. -
    Sydney, Australia.

  23. My husband and I have been watching Doc Martin on Netflex, and have just finished all the episodes from season 1 - 4 and are now wanting to see season 5, but there are none on Netflex.
We have fallen in love with the Town of Portwenn and all of it's characters.
Living in the Los Angeles area and seeing this completely different atmosphere and culture of people is so interesting.
We can't wait to see season 5 and hope Doc Martin will continue to film so we will eventually see more seasons of this great program. We are definitely fans of the show!

  24. Can't get enough of this show. No sooner does the series start and it's over for another year. Certainly hoping for season 6 maybe when James Henry is older. Wonder if he'll be a nerdy kid. Lots of fans of the show here in Tasmania.

  25. Doc Martin is the best series EVER! I'm with others when they ask for Joan and Pauline back. I can easily see a flashback episode that shows us what happens to DM and LG just after the wedding and while LG was in London - Aunt Joan was around for that. I'ld also like to know what happened to the engagement ring. -- From Washington, DC.

  29. Adore this show! We have nothing that compares in the U.S. Thank goodness for PBS but I dream of being able to see the show real-time. More Doc Martin! - From Phoenix, AZ, USA

  30. How about season 6 begins with the Ellinghams moving from London to Portwenn to enroll JH at the Portwenn Academy? We see flashbacks of the wedding and baptism, and some glimpses of life in London as they adjust to each other. Maybe Doc Martin could also work at the hospital in Truro as well as see patients in PW. I think Aunt Ruth was a great addition but really miss Pauline. From St. Louis, MO USA

  32. There has never been a show done as well as DM. I am hooked. PLEASE MAKE SERIES 6 AND BEYOND!!!! I love escaping to Portwenn. Could eat Doc with a spoon like Mrs T. Adore Louisa for making Doc smile. I have played the 1st time he told her he loved her then passed out drunk, over and over. It's one of my favorite scenes ever in any show/movie. And when Auntie Joan hooks up with the painter!! "Osteoporosis and sexual intercourse on a kitchen table don't mix" Doc. LOVE IT!!

  33. This is the best television show that I have ever watched, bar none. The character development superb - each character has a distinct personality that you come to love and, in some cases, hate. The story lines are both overarching the series and succinct to fit neatly into the confines of one episode. The themes draw our attention, fascinate, horrify and amuse us. I am so invested in the characters that I almost feel that they're real people. For me, that's a first. PLEASE GIVE US SERIES 6!!!!! - Patrick, Washington, DC USA.

  34. Seen every episode - just hoping against hope for a 6th series. I would love the writers to soften the doc a little - lets see him open up to louisa about his childhood and why hes like he is - lets see their relationship become a little less tense and some emotion from the doc - he can still be gumpy but lets see some nice stuff between Louisa and the Doc!! Best show ever. Huge Fan Brisbane, Australia

  35. Just love Doc, Louisa, Aunt Ruth, Pauline, Al, Bert, Mrs. Tishell and the village of Port Wenn.I love the reply right above mine asking for Doc to reveal his family history to Louisa. There was a great foreshadow for that in series 5 when Aunt Ruth left the childhood photo album at Doc's house for Louisa.Would love to see just a crack in his walled up heart open up for Louisa and James Henry. But hope he carries on as the grump with everyone else. Where can I pre-order Series 6?? Severe Docmartinitis in Central Coast, California.

  36. PLEASE!!!!! Will you continue this wonderfully unique series with season 6..and hopefully more...I have enjoyed this show,,with its terrific actors and actresses!!! The stories are so great..there is nothing else like this!! Many are still waiting for Doc Martin season 5 to be available on TV, DVD, and Net flicks..Thank you for all the entertainment..I am in chronic pain.and illness..and this show makes me Laugh out loud..in spite of my own pain. Please ..I hope so much for this to work out. Humor is healing..it brings endorphins naturally..and EVERYONE need to Laugh.. I Truly enjoy the witty writing..The Beauty of the scenery...Martin is a true treasure..one of a kind.. Louisa is a darling!!! Well enough said... Thankyou...P.S. I have never written in and requested a show before.Sincerely..Laura :))))

  37. I love this show so much. There is no other like it. I could put Martin and Louisa in my two pockets. But it's disappointing not to see them married -- Martin was so clear and direct in wanting to marry Louisa when he first fell in love. And it's also disheartening not to see love and tenderness between them in series 5. There was so much love in series 1-3. I'd love to see a very different series 6, such as a move to London, with sharp writing like series 1-3, and not as much soap opera as 4 and 5. But right now, anything will do. Hopelessly in love.

  38. We've all known some version of the Doc, but we may not have loved him as much as this one.Promote peace and humanity, and human understanding..make season 6 of Doc Martin.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with some of the above comments that Martin and Louisa need to have a real relationship.
Having Martin and Louisa disagree so much is beginning to be a drag on the story. They need to show real respect for each other.
The little one should awaken the love and tenderness in Martin that children can bring out in even the toughest of fathers.
I love the way he is always diagnosing the diseases in people other than patients in his surgery.

  40. Wonderful comments, especially those that want a more mature, loving and less combative relationship between Martin and Louisa. Sometimes it seems the writers forget what happened in the last episode. But, of course, we who love the Doc do not.
